Get the Worst Done First: Perhaps the biggest challenge you will face when composing a to-do list is actually being able to take action.
It is very easy to get distracted when you don’t focus on taking good action and that means you could wind up leaving lots of your to-do list undone at the end of the day. If you want to work through this problem you need to keep your motivation levels high if you want to succeed. Finishing the hard stuff before moving on to the easy stuff is a great way to build up this motivation. It’s true: put that stuff at the top of your list and start working on them immediately at the beginning of your day. Because productivity levels and energy levels are highest at the start of your day the hard task will seem simple. When you know that you’ve finished the hardest things on your list, you will automatically have less of a burden on you during the rest of your day and it will be easier to find the motivation to get through the rest of the tasks that are on your list. Add Tasks to Your List, Not Goals: Perhaps the reason that most Internet Marketers fail to finish their to-do lists is because they start to feel overwhelmed. What happens is that they’ve added tasks to the lists that feel big enough to be goals on their own. Your to-do list needs to be made up of doable tasks that can help you actually achieve your end goals. These tasks should be small enough that you can actually achieve them fairly quickly so that you can know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are moving ahead so that you can reach your objective. The included tasks need to be clear and not vague. For example, “Get More Leads” is murky at best but “Call 5 Prospects” is easy to do and easily defined.
Effective Preparation: Once in a while, in order to make your to-do list successful, you need to do a good amount of preparation. When you’ve done enough prep you’ll see that crossing items off of your to-do list is a lot easier because you’ll know what you’re doing. For example, let’s say that you’ve got 5 articles to write written down as a task on your list. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier for you if you actually do your research in advance before putting the item on your list. It truly does! If you do enough prep, most of your battle is already won.
