Many Societies Have Enjoyed Honda Motorcycles
Soichiro Honda’s passion was motorized vehicles, but, paradoxically, he designed Honda motorcycles. He began studying the mechanical aspect of automobiles while still a teeenager, working in a repair shop, and he loved racing and fast driving. He could tell a lot about riding motorbikes, actually being the owner of a Harley as well as an Indian.
It appeared to be only when he was 41, in 1948, that Honda began his own Honda Motor Company, but he had already owned an auto repair shop, starting way back in 1928. He wanted well-made products that could compete, so his concentration was on design and quality. In 1953 Japan was experiencing a depression, and, even though sales of motorcycles were on the up, the survival of his company was in jeopardy. A small amount of motorcycles were selling, and since he just didn’t want to put people out of work, he kept the factory open. It was subsequently a good decision, because the C100 Super Cub was released in 1958, and it became the world’s most successful motorcycle. The bike was versatile as well as inexpensive, inside anybody’s reach, driven by a 4-stroke motor with a 3-speed transmission.
People new to motorcycles found it easy to use, and it soon found a big following amongst female commuters. The popularity of this bike skyrocketed Honda to the number one position by amount of motorcycle makers in 1959. They decided that it was time for expansion all over the world. They wanted to set a precedence, so they elected to come to the United States. Acceptance by the American public would signify acceptance by the rest of the world. Honda had been first accessible to the American public in June, 1959, in Los Angeles, and by 1960 it was possible buy a Honda from any of more than 75 stores.
By way of community involvement , mainly through sponsoring 50% of the funding needed by a pair of organizations, Honda became a trusted brand. These were the Motorcycle Industry Council, along with the Motorcycle Safety Council, both highly valued by fans of motorcycles. In the 70′s the Honda company kept developing new models that people just couldn’t resist, and they stayed number one in the industry. In 1973 Honda cycles were the champions of over 70 races around the globe, and they were soon famous as the speediest available. Other bike producers were quick to hop on the bandwagon, when, in 1975, touring bikes became fashionable as well as comfortable, following the introduction of the GL1000 Gold Wing.
Honda continued to create novel motorcycles which appeal to a cross-spectrum of cultures. Part of their great image is due to their continued practice of giving motorcycles to causes that they regard as worth supporting. Bike safety keeps benefiting by Honda’s sustained funding of training courses and dissemination of beneficial information for the promotion of motorcycling safety. Over many decades now Honda have proven that their motorcycles happen to be amongst the most reliable around. They’ve become iconic rulers in the motorcycle industry, in no small part because of their determination to innovate irrespective of the circumstances.
